The magazine's office is in Łódź - a textile city, and so the topic which we decided to discuss is naturally linked with that place. And though we didn't want to limit ourselves only to Łódź initiatives, they still dominate the issue.
We highly recommend the Interview column, where Włodzimierz Cygan - last year's first-prize winner for the work entitled "Orbitrek, 2006" at the 12th International Tapestry Triennale in the Central Musem of Textiles in Łódź - talks about his artistic work and return to the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. We also encourage our Readers to see the artist's works in the "Presentation" section.
More on the Central Musem of Textiles in "Culture Industries" by Maciej Mazerant: "The cultural offer that the Museum can be proud of (e.g. the International Tapestry Triennale, the 2005 edition of which was seen by almost 24 000 visitors - data from the report on culture entitled "Kulturalnie do celu") is an example of how an idea and persistence in bringing it to reality is a way to potential success for the owners of forgotten and run-down places of industrial heritage in Łódź.
In this issue we present Adriana Błaszczyk-Zych, who specializes in artistic Gobelin tapestries ("Career in Culture"), Agnieszka Czop, a carpet designer, who gained recognition for her toy carpets ("On the Margin"), Aleksandra Skoczylas, an artist cooperating with the Atelier Foundation in Warsaw, who organizes batik workshops for children, and Małgorzata Steinmetz-Gackowska, who runs the Clay Art Studio ("Young Culture").
Also, our Readers are encouraged to have a look at the two other columns - "Analysis" by Artur Zaguła and "Feature" which is ran in cooperation with the portal: Kariera.com.pl
